Fujairah, UAE; May 14, 2012: Vopak Horizon Fujairah, a joint venture between Royal Vopak, Horizon Terminals Ltd - wholly owned by Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), the Government of Fujairah and Kuwait’s Independent Petroleum Group, today marked the opening of its sixth phase, strengthening its storage capacity with an additional 600,000 cubic metres, and taking the total storage to 2.1 million cubic metres.
The inauguration of the sixth phase was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah; dignitaries from various government departments in Fujairah; Saeed Abdullah Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, and other senior officials from ENOC.

Vopak Horizon Fujairah Ltd. (VHFL) is one of the world’s largest bunkering centres and is the first independent onshore oil terminal outside the Arabian Gulf. It caters to blending, break-bulk and consolidation of petroleum products.
Saeed Abdullah Khoory congratulated the VHFL management and contractors for the on-schedule expansion. ‘The opening of the sixth phase marks another exciting chapter in VHFL’s history,’ he said.

Vopak Horizon Fujairah’s expansion will further contribute to establishing the emirate as a regional and global hub for oil trade and drive growth towards various sectors including oil, construction and marine-related industries. Construction of the sixth phase started in April 2010. Twenty new tanks for fuel oil and clean petroleum products storage have been added, with sizes ranging from 20,000 cbm to 40,000 cbm. The phase also included the construction of onshore tanks, manifold, pipelines and utilities; and off-shore pipelines and connections to the VHF jetties.

VHFL also achieved several benchmarks in its sixth phase development. ENOC Engineering and Projects Management, which handled the sixth phase, completed 5 million man hours without Lost Time Injuries (LTI).

Strategically located at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz on the eastern side of the UAE, Vopak Horizon Fujairah handles the full spectrum of petroleum products including mogas, reformate, naphtha, pygas, gasoil, MTBE, condensate, fuel oil, jet fuel, kerosene, as well as biofuels such as ethanol on request.
With state of the art specifications, the terminal can accept tankers of up to 175,000 d.w.t, and complies with the most stringent safety, quality and environmental standards, having been certified to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004.
